The Mobile Mathematics Circle could not function without the cooperation of various parents and teachers. Several people have been very supportive over the years. We especially thank Natalya Prokhorova from the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science who coaches our sister circle the ASMS Mathematics Circle. Over the years Mike Fletcher of Davidson High School has attended the Math Circle and supported us by sending many of his best students. Leslie Whiston and Don Jones of Murphy High School also encourage their students to attend. Several parents have attended along with their children: Dixie Pomerat, Susanta Dey, Srivina Palanki, and Sridevi Chilkuri deserve special recognition. Present and future parents and teachers can help us. Each week we distribute problem sets to our students. Among the problems listed, we only get a chance to discuss a few of them. Parents take the time at home to discuss these with you children. See if you can work them out. Ask your children for help. Thinking about math problems helps us learn how to do mathematics more than any other activity. It would thrill us if students return after a week ready to demonstrate the solutions to problems that we presented. |
